There are many reasons so many Cambria owners have kept their boats for 15, 20 or more years. Quality design and construction are the key elements. Exceptional strength and comfort are combined with manageable performance and beautiful lines. Pegasus is truly a classic yacht that has never been chartered or sailed in southern waters. Although now 31 years old, her light use offers her next owners a high quality yacht that has fewer sea miles and lower engine hours than most yachts half her age.
Since delivery Pegasus has only been sailed summers in New England waters. Maine became the preferred cruising waters and for this reason the yacht has been stored indoors most winters and maintained by Hinckley in Southwest Harbor, Wayfarer in Camden, Maine and more recently by Quality Yachts in Tiverton, RI . Over the years her owners have continuously upgraded the equipment, systems and interior decor. Highlights of improvements include new anchor windlass, electronics, sails, diesel heater, Ultrasuede fabrics, asymmetrical spinnaker, new autopilot, GPS, solar panels, both companionway dodgers and new hull and deck paint.
Added benefits of Pegasus are her keel board design that provides a shoal draft fin keel, and rudder that is fully protected by a rugged skeg. Cambrias are most often sailed by a couple. Pegasus has also been single handed many times. The centerboard is available for added performance sailing to windward however is seldom lowered because the Cambria is good on all points of sail with the board in the raised position.

DETAILS
Pegasus' interior arrangement sleeps six with maximum privacy for the owner within an aft cockpit design. The aft owner's cabin has a double to starboard and navigation center/work desk to port providing direct communication to the cockpit. The owner's aft head features a separate stall shower. A passageway galley is accessed from the aft companionway or a second midship companionway ladder. The engine is located under this companionway ladder. Forward of the galley is the comfortable salon, guest head and V-berth guest cabin.
All the woodwork is hand picked, light varnished teak. The cabin sole, which is totally removable, is solid varnished teak with light inlay. The interior hull sides are sheathed with teak battens (ceilings) which are set off the hull to provide ventilation. Lockers are wood lined with main hanging lockers lined with cedar. The overheads and under decks are white laminate.
The midship main salon offers an L-shaped settee (converts to a double) to port and transom and pilot berth on the starboard side. Outboard of the starboard settee are built in lockers and shelves with additional storage behind both settee backrests.
The passageway galley is located to port adjacent to the forward companionway that also has a dodger that permits leaving the hatch open in heavy weather and rainy days.
The owner's cabin is aft and encompasses the full-width of the yacht. There is a private entrance from the cockpit and four stainless steel opening ports. To starboard is a generous double berth with drawers and hanging locker and to port is a full sit down navigation center with locker aft of the seat. A private owner's head has a walk-in, stall shower with teak grating. The aft head was replaced in 2013.
The forward cabin has V-berth arrangement with a seat located between (the seat can be raised to form a double berth). Two bureaus are located port and starboard with hanging lockers outboard and an additional tall hanging locker is also provided.
The guest head with shower has two entry doors that permit access from either the main cabin or directly from the forward cabin. Locker with shelves and a hamper are built-in outboard of the vanity and a mirror is located above the stainless steel sink.
The Cambria 44 hull is molded of hand-laid fiberglass with a 3/4" Airex core that provides thermal and sound insulation and meets both Lloyds and American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) requirements. A keel grid is bonded to the hull and integrated with the mast step and engine mounts to form a single unit. Below water thru-hull fittings are marine bronze full-way seacocks bedded on solid glass (core material is removed and replaced with solid glass). The 11,500 lb cast lead ballast keel provides protection in the event of grounding and is secured to the hull with 1" stainless steel bolts and 5200 (400 PSI) bedding compound. Additional fiberglass reinforcement is incorporated in stress areas such as stern, keel, transom and skeg and in way of chainplate knees. Chainplate knees are solid fiberglass. New Awlgrip topsides.
The deck is a fiberglass sandwich with Divinycell PVC core to provide maximum strength. The deck is bonded to the internal flange on the hull with 5200 (strongest bedding material for this purpose) and thru bolted on 8" centers. New nonskid.
The versatile deck arrangement offers a proper deep T-shaped offshore cockpit with high backrests and ability to access the helm seat without stepping onto the cockpit seats. There are wide winch bases, recessed cleats and self-tailing winches. There is an aft companionway fully protected by a dodger. A second, small cockpit is amidships and second companionway. The second companionway provides privacy to the full-width aft owner's suite and direct access to the salon, galley and guest stateroom.
