It is not very often that a yacht like MITHRANDIR appears on the market. Built by the renowned Alden Yard in Portsmouth, RI, she represents the best of the best in construction quality, finish, and safety. The current owners have cruised her for over 100,000 miles, spending much of their time in the South Pacific, but also voyaging into Alaska and throughout British Colombia. Continually upgraded along the way, the addition of the hard dodger by the Franklin Yard in New Zealand has added a whole measure of safety and comfort. Sail handling is effortless from the protected cockpit in up to 30 knots of wind speed. She is an expertly maintained, powerful cruiser that will take you wherever in the world you would like to go.
MITHRANDIR represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to sail away at a bargain price. There is simply nothing like her on the market today at this price point that is as “turn-key” and ready for her next adventure.
Not for sale in Canadian waters.

DETAILS
Sail locker with separate chain locker forward accessed from the large forward deck hatch and separated from the living accommodations by a watertight bulkhead. Aft of the bulkhead is a large head shared by the two guest cabins using separate entrances. Aft of hanging lockers the identical port and starboard guest cabins feature upper and lower berths, all with lee cloths. The upper bunks fold down to create a comfortable sitting area. Double doors in the fore aft bulkhead separating the cabins can be secured open or closed as needed, providing adaptable accommodation options. For example with a couple as guests onboard the opened doors provide a large stateroom again with several sleeping options.
Immediately aft of the forward cabins is the main salon, featuring a U-shaped dining settee to starboard. Ample bookshelves above the starboard settee reach outboard to the teak-lined hull below the main salon windows. To port, another settee features wine glass storage behind custom-designed stained glass cabinet doors, above and outboard. Directly aft of the wine glass cabinet is a custom-designed roll-top desk. Next aft, a second stained glass-fronted cabinet contains the entertainment system and additional storage. Both settees slide out to form double berths. The generous dining table, accessible by both settees, has lots of storage in the pedestal base. Leaves fold up when not in use. A key feature of the Alden design provides an eye-level view of the outdoors in either the galley or the main salon.
The U-shaped galley is aft of the starboard settee. It features a three-burner Force 10 stove with oven and broiler, a Grunert holding plate refrigerator and separate freezer system (1* - Please refer to Note 1 at the end of this Section.), a microwave oven and trash compactor. The double stainless steel sinks, with installed soap dispensers, have a foot pump with a separate freshwater Aqua Pure charcoal filter to back up the pressure water system. A second foot pump provides seawater to the galley or pumps out the fridge by turning the fitted Y-valve. The Sea Recovery 35 gal/hour reverse-osmosis watermaker control panel is located on the aft bulkhead above the fridge/freezer compartments (1). Backsplashes are white laminate and galley counters are granite-look Corian. The galley is fully outfitted for gourmet cooking.
To port and aft of the main salon is the forward-facing navigation station with chart table, seat, storage and instrument displays. The navigation station is fully-outfitted for offshore passages and/or coastal cruising (1).
Aft of the nav station, a passageway leads past the main engine access panel, a wet locker and an en-suite head to the full-width owner’s stateroom. The centerline queen berth has drawers under. Port and starboard of the berth are cedar-lined clothes and hanging lockers. A washer /dryer is located on the starboard side of the forward bulkhead in the aft cabin. Finish throughout is satin-varnished teak, with satin-finished teak and holly cabin sole (1).
Note 1. This vessel has been maintained both professionally and by the current owners since it was purchased in 1998. Specific upgrades, replacements, major refits and information on maintenance schedules will be outlined in the relevant following sections or made available during the sale process.
A new Hood Yacht System mast with electric mainsail furling was installed in 1998 when the current owner purchased the boat. All standing and running rigging was replaced at the Alden yard in Portsmouth RI. Navtec rod rigging was used exclusively. A Harken headsail furling system and new Doyle sails included a No. 2 and No. 3 genoa, a 1.5 ounce spinnaker and a furling mainsail. In 2001 a North G2 Spinnaker from North Sails Vancouver was added. In 2003 a Doyle spectra mainsail and 110% spectra genoa were added in Auckland. In 2009 a permanent staysail stay with a Harken MKIV Furler and North Sails Super yacht laminate staysail was installed by Waikawa Rigging and North Sails in New Zealand. Waikawa Rigging performed regular rigging inspections and completed all recommended repairs from 2008 to 2013. In 2014 the Doyle 110% genoa, after damage on the Samoa Fanning Island passage, was replaced in Hawaii with a 115% North Sails Super Yacht carbon fiber laminate.
