This vertically retracting keel boat is ideal for sailing the shallow waters around the Florida Keys! Drawing only 2 foot 5 inches with the keel all the way up and 7 feet when fully lowered, you can go from the beach and shallow bays to blue water cruising and anywhere in between!
Founded in 1973 by Nick Hake, Seaward sailboats have been built for more than 40 years. The credo at Seaward Yachts is Sail Without Boundaries. The retracting keel system offers the extreme versatility of being able to sail impressively in high winds and rough water with the keel down as well as being able to sail over areas of shallow water, in the too-shallow slip and at the launch ramp on a trailer. The moving keel can be adjusted vertically from the cockpit by a 12 volt electric winch so that it will be at its best in every sailing condition. A Seaward Yacht offers you all the benefits and none of the constraints of a deep draft.
The interior of the Seaward 46RK features solid teak wood finishing, stainless steel appliances, a full galley off the salon and spacious living quarters that sleep eight. There is an unusual interior pilot station as well as a functional cockpit that offers 360 degree views.
The 46RK is fast and smooth across the water and extremely stable with the ballast low at the keel’s lower tip and very light on the helm, allowing you to accelerate in the slightest puff. All controls lead to the aft cockpit, allowing for single-handed sailing.
Faster Horses is a beautiful example of a 2014 year model Seaward 46. There are so many upgrades on this sailboat that you need to come see her for yourself. The full specs offer more details, but you should call the listing broker today to arrange a visit to view this exceptionally well-equipped and unique yacht!

DETAILS
The 46RK features a raised coach roof and large cabin-house ports, which floods the interior with natural light as you step below. Immediately to starboard is a unique, raised navigation/helm station with a deluxe captain’s chair identical to the one you find topside. You also have another set of engine controls, a second set of nav instruments and a panoramic view of all that lies before you.
To port and down a step, there’s a fully equipped galley, complete with stainless appliances and ample storage. To starboard of the galley is the spacious U-shaped settee with a table that converts to a smaller coffee table and to a double berth, if needed.
Aft are two private staterooms, both with double berths and ample storage. A head is conveniently located forward of the starboard cabin where it is easily accessible from both guest staterooms, the salon and the cockpit.
All the way forward, the owner's stateroom is luxurious, with a centerline queen berth, spacious head and separate shower and again, lots of storage.

The hull is hand laid and solid glass to the waterline. Topsides and deck are cored. The decks are teak. The keel is enclosed in a laminate box molded into the hull to prevent water intrusion in the event of a grounding. Throughout, workmanship is top notch.
The boat is designed to be straightforward to sail. From the helm, you have great visibility and the electric winches are close at hand. The self-tending jib allows you to tack upwind with only a turn of the wheel. An interesting advantage of the lifting keel and rudder is boat speed gained by reducing the boat’s draft (and drag) when keel depth is not required for stability or upwind performance. Most fixed keel boats have draft that is too deep for ninety percent of the sailing they do. Their penalty is loss of speed. On long passages, dragging too much keel around can add hours to a trip.
