A comparison to a Beneteau 311 or 321 will show how truly voluptuous the 331’s hull actually is. Large swim platform allows easy swimming and tender access to the beautiful cockpit. Expansive seating and a swing up table makes for easy entertaining outside in the shade of the over sized Bimini. Just a few steps below, a U shaped galley with lots of dry storage, 2 burner stove/oven and a top loading refrigerator/freezer. The aft “owners cabin” is truly comfortable with a hanging locker, two opening ports, an opening hatch and what must be close to a king size width berth. The salon has a U shaped settee across from a straight settee allowing several to sit comfortably in the protection of the cabin. 

There is a chart table at the aft end of the port settee with full owners manuals below. The very clean head has a built in medicine cabinet and pull out shower with floor drain and sump. Forward is a guest Vberth with a hanging locker as well. This is an ideal couples boat with room for guests to visit when desired. 

Ample Engine access is behind the swing up stairs and aft in the owners cabin.

A good sailing and relatively stiff boat, with the above features, these are an awesome cruiser representing a “Best Buy” in this size and price range. There is an active 331owners site on Facebook where information is shared. 

“OWNERS COMMENTS” 

A confirmed boat nut, I have owned over 35 cruising boats in the last 42 years. This is my third 331 keel/ centerboard and I truly believe they represent the best set of compromises in a couples sailboat for the Keys or Bahamas. It’s seems impossible for a manufacturer to produce a boat with these features and yet draw only 2ft 11in with the board up. The bonus is they actually sail surprisingly well with it raised!! 

I have thousands of miles on my previous 331 K/Cs and can attest to the luxury of anchoring where others can’t, not having to await high tide as others do when entering multiple harbours, the ability to clear fixed bridges on the St Lucie Canal and inside the Keys as well as their sailing ability having weathered a Gulf Stream gale. There is simply nothing produced that compares . As you see in the photos, find a level bottom at high tide and between the winged shoal keel and twin rudders, they dry out upright when the tide drops. Sure makes bottom cleaning easy. In searching for this, my 3rd 331K/C, it had to be the optional K/C model and after servicing the more common Westerbeke, I truly hoped for a Yanmar as their impeller is right up front for easy access. I found this boat in Punta Gorda. The bottom was just done, sails were clean, the Yanmar fired instantly and ran smoothly in sea trails last summer. She went into storage after the purchase closed last August. My first mate has been diagnosed with a medical condition that has ended our continued sailing dreams.

I priced this boat well below the brokers recommendation to allow for further improvements by a new owner with a quick sale.
